Resolved. There is supposed to be a small retaining clip as part of the door handle. Crafted a replacement out of sheet metal using tin snips.

I have a 1990 Roadtrek 190V (G30 Chassis).

The rear door won't open from the outside... the button is loose or jammed. I have taken off the panel and have pieced together how the lock works.

Found this thread searching for a solution to my door troubles... I have a 1990 Roadtrek 190V base don the G30 van chassis. My lock and inside handle are working, but my exterior latch is broken... ...
