Re: Newbie questions re DC/AC power, water, LPGas, etc.

Hi E32,

I have an 89 and I have more than 170k kms on mine and I use the Overdrive all the time on flat land, you might want to drop it off in hilly or mountainous country and use the engine for...

Re: Satellite dish tripods - where to get 'em cheap?

Hi Mike, I would be too quick on dumping the fourth cable. I only have three sets in the house, but when I got a new receiver I had to pull in another cable to the primary receiver as it has record...

Re: Rally to celebrate 40 years of the Roadtrek.

Hi Mike,
You are correct, the Tornado season in Branson is from about mid-March to mid-June.

You should be OK as the RT is ideal for running away from Tornadoes, provided you get some advanced...

Rally to celebrate 40 years of the Roadtrek.

I see that Roadtrek is planning to host a Corporate Rally at Branson, MO, on May 20-24, 2013.

The Rally will be open to all RT owners.

Registration starts on Sept 1st 2012 and it will be first...

Re: CB radio chatter

Like Mike I usually have my CB tuned to Ch. 19 when travelling the Interstates. I do not talk much, I usually listen for comments from the truckers about construction or accidents and possible...

Re: Newbie has questions

I liked the idea of running the RT through the local 'no touch' car wash so I went to see what they could handle and the max height is posted at 8 ft!

My RT is actually one of the early, low...

Re: Ontario, insurance, legalities, technicalities etc??

You asked earlier what defined an RV.

Wikipedia's definition is: "A recreational vehicle is any vehicle, whether towed or driven that has a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living area. Recreational...

Re: Ontario, insurance, legalities, technicalities etc??

Hi Flashman,
When I first insured my used Roadtrek with the local insurance agent the price seemed way too low and I went into the agent and tried to explain that it was a Roadtrek not a Dodge van...

Re: Ontario, insurance, legalities, technicalities etc??

My first move would be to contact my insurance agent and ask what is their understanding as to what constitutes an RV.

Alternatively you could e-mail an insurance company such as Aviva, what...

Re: winter covers

Hi Mike,
You are right - What a winter!

I see the tornadoes have started - but out in the MidWest this time.

Back to the 'Plastic Garages': I see a 20ft long by 10ft wide shelter with 10ft...

Re: winter covers

I briefly considered getting one of those canvas garages to use for winter storage of the RT.

Of course the most popular ones are too small, being intended for cars, but the next larger size...

Re: Opinions on towing a travel trailer with a truck? Thanks

Hi Mike,
Our 5th wheel was about 8,000 lbs. The truck was able to handle it with no problems. It was a delight to drive. The pivot point on a 'fiver' is roughly on top of the rear axle instead of...

Over the years I have towed a variety of trailers with different vehicles. I currently own a Class B.

My last trailer, which I got rid off last year, was a fifth wheel, 38 ft long trailer, which...

Re: Full-timing in the van - Meg

Meg, I do not know if they have Panera Bread stores in your area but they have free wifi and they provide 120volt outlets at most tables to recharge your computer.

Re: Mandatory Annual Safety Inspections

Hi Mike,

I trotted into the licence bureau (Service Ontario) and asked why I was required to have a 'smoke' test when my RT was an '89. I was told that the 20 year thing was dropped and I will now...

Re: Do you drive with your fridge on propane?

We drive with our fridge on 12 volts but we leave the propane turned 'on' at the tank and 'off' at the appliances.

Hi Mike, Yes we are down 'here' and we have been here since late November.

Just like last year, we have had some real cool nights! What is Florida coming to? Global warming indeed!
