I didn't see any battery options on their site beyond what you are getting, but could have missed it. A call to them might be in order.

I just checked the Safari website, which lists two 6v as standard, and didn't see any optional beyond that, so it is likely 195ah of 12v, which is not a lot if you are offgrid with a compressor frig,...

That frig will probably be using 25-50ah per day depending on weather and use.

Did we ever find out if the amp hour total was 195ah with two six volt batteries or 390ah with two big 12v...

Again davydd misses the point. Different systems could use less power without sacrificing or conserving for how others use their units, like us. Never said that yours isn't fine for you.

You...

I think davydd missed my point, this is not about how he uses his van, it is about how others may want to use their's. One major point of reducing the amount of power used per day, without losing...

I mostly agree with what davydd says, but would add one caveat. As the market progresses toward bigger lithium packs, big inverters and shore chargers, engine generators, etc, I hope the do not all...

Are the 190ah batteries in a Safari Condo six volt, or twelve volt. Big difference in capacity and charge acceptance between the two. On 190ah of battery, 100-150ah of recharge is a lot and a short...

You have quite a few charging sources to charge and some will go fast like the alternator. The problem is with the batteries charging speed. AGM batteries will charge quickly to about 85% full, but...

I think there are degrees of how much issue there is with the big load messing up the van systems. Ours was basically, in 07, just an old style internal regulator alternator, with a reference load...

Re: Under the hood generators, dual alternators etc.......

The only thing on the parallel that comes to mind is that the diode isolator has some resistance to it, so in a pure parallel setup (both ends of the circuits tied together), you will have more...

Re: Under the hood generators, dual alternators etc.......

You can get more battery capacity into a Chevy 190. Folks have done it a couple of different ways. Campskunk duplicated the existing tray design, behind the passenger rear wheel setup, on the...

Re: Under the hood generators, dual alternators etc.......

You could have some wire size or isolator drop issues, so it would depend on where you are checking your voltage. Knowing what the voltage is at the alternator and at the batteries would be useful...

Re: Under the hood generators, dual alternators etc.......

If the MEPS system is putting out DC, as it appears, they are smart to invert it right away to make it easy to move in smaller wires. I wouldn't be surprised that running it to the batteries as AC...

Re: Under the hood generators, dual alternators etc.......

It is interesting that the focus seems to be on generating 12volt power from the engine. I think it would be so much more efficient, in so many ways, to generate 120volt AC power. The only downside...
