Easy enough to continuously monitor current draw. I am picturing a little display with maybe five numbers: fridge temp, freezer temp, instantaneous current, cumulative power, and duty cycle.

I have never gotten around to looking at this stuff carefully. Am I correct that if @Michael added the ability to control the compressor speed to his awesome project, he could do pretty much anything...
