Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

LOL. I was actually contemplating the red for my next van! Maybe it goes back to wanting to be a fireman when I was 5.

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

I take it there are quite a few dealer orders in ahead of you. Did your dealer have any in the pipe?

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

Congrats Gerry. I'm sure it will be stunning in the cherry color and a light colored leather. No van is perfect, but this one is close!

Everyone needs to bear in mind that this is version 1.0 of...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

Travato 59G is the same way. The table is absolutely necessary to have some space to prepare a meal as the sink and the stovetop are usually both in use at the same time. The Zion really could use...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

Some nice details you don't see in the other video. I like what they went over, but their presentation skills need work.

I follow Chris on youtube. I really don't get what is going on with...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

Interesting stuff.

Is part of the engine generator (alternator) do anything about cooling?

Most of times on gasoline cars and trucks, they give you warning about excessive engine idling. The...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

I think you are probably right on resale, if that is a consideration. Most folks would expect a generator. If I were ordering, I'd probably select the extra alternator, as I'm not one for much...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

Congratulations Gerry!

Can you comment on what you observed on the cabinetry construction? What is the material - laminated plywood, coated mdf, etc?

I'm assuming it's all screwed as Roadtrek...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

I thought the offering from Roadtrek was:

Onan generator,

or

Engine generator (extra alternator) + inverter.

If it's a decent inverter, then the costs are more even up I would think.

Looks like it may be this one. But not sure they are really securing it to the floor.

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

That guy must be very tall. I'm 5' 10" and am sitting in my passenger seat (rotated around) and my thigh is pretty much level with the floor. I can't imagine being comfortable with my feet needing...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

Yes it does pose a challenge.

Winnebago extends that floor a bit. On 59G they use it as a chase to run pipes. On 59k, they give you an underfloor storage compartment. I don't recall what it...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

I'd also agree with Davydd on the AC usage pattern.

My needs are mostly the roadside stop kind of thing - an hour stopover to lunch or to go into a store and leave the dog in the van.

Sounds...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

A 2002 era tire is not safe to use, regardless of if it's been out of the sun or not. It may look fine, but it isn't.

Yeah, not sure if any van named after Death Valley would be a good seller. ...

Hey, I've had guys get all weepy over how beautiful a torque wrench is, so nothing really surprises me. ;)

Easy there. Let's not get into a "who's van is the ugliest" debate. ;)

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

I can't imagine getting a 16" truck tire would be a problem anywhere in North America. It's a very common size.

But if having one along is a high priority above, well it's just one more factor to...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

Road trek actually has a system that they have used on their other vans that supports the spare off the receiver. I'm sure it can be adapted for the Promaster if there is demand for it.

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

On the deisel, the fuel tank could be smaller to even out the weight difference, but I don't know. Also it's displacement is smaller than the gas engine and the tranny is different, so maybe there...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

Understood.

In most of my investigations on Promaster/Ducato conversions in the US and Europe, the weight of the conversion generally is around 2000 lbs +/-. The bare van is in the ballpark of...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

OK. I was thinking they were talking OCCC with the 1250 number. If there is another 770 lbs available (passenger weight), then I'm alot more comfortable with this van.

Since there really aren't...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

I understand that. That leads one to believe there is no equipment or piping behind the rear axle, unless there is a battery box there. So by inference, the black, fresh and grey tanks are ahead. ...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

Cave-like is more a personal perception. To me, a few inches make a tremendous difference. I think that is partly why the chose the white cabinetry- to give a perception of space. I don't care...

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion

Agree with your points. I'd say the sports-active market is a bit wider. Probably up to age 60, which includes a few boomers.

The thing with us younger boomers and the millenials (or is it...
