I've never had the issue of timing out during a post and getting logged out... and I've been logged in for months. My posts are often rather long...

OK... I let this just sit here for 30 minutes...

If you leave the posting screen for any reason, your message tends to disappear. So I always highlight all and hit copy. Then if it is telling you to log in, go do that. Re-open a message screen...
