Maybe consider getting an extra cassette and DIY a storage area in the rear for it. Would let you fill up one and then - while using the 2nd - find an appropriate dump place?

Yes, it does look like it tapers. Plan layout shows head of bed at forward end of van (widest part), but photos always it (with pillows) toward the rear.
