I just turn the breaker for the converter off...

I just turn the breaker for the converter off when the inverter is on. I am very rarely on shore power and chargers are manually operated so the converter stays off.

I added a transfer switch in the generator line...

I added a transfer switch in the generator line and connected the added inverter to it. Works fine.
