Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

So far the gas pressure at the burners seems adequate. With both burners on high, and lid closed, my grill reaches 600F (the maximum reading on the lid temp indicator) in about 5-7 minutes or so. I'm...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

Ok, I see what you meant now. I might give your method a try next time out. It might be easier than the lever method, and would ensure the main propane is off after every use. I've been using the...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

Yes on pressure and hose length.
I assume you're talking on/off at the quick connect. Ours has a lever that sits perpendicular to the hose fitting when closed and can be moved to parallel...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

Finally got the new Q up and running over the weekend. Not bad, for following up on a a thread that I started about 7 years ago. Priorities? :wtf: Can't accuse me of jumping the gun.
Had to...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

15 psi is high pressure. .5 psi is low. My main propane tank has 2 regulators, one high for the BBQ pig tail, and one for the internal appliances like the cook top, furnace, fridge, and water...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

Gerry, suggest sending a note to service@roadtrek.com and verify whether the quick connect is low (.5 psi) or high pressure (10-15psi). Or ask your dealer to confirm. My 2002 has a high pressure...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

I looked at those a while back and I think the size and shape was the issue. No good place to store it when not in use in our van. We are limited by that to smaller more conventionally shaped...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

I hear you on 5 psi not making much difference.
If my 2002 does have a 15 psi regulator, it might produce a flame like 2 lighters and a book of wet matches.
I'll see what works and check...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

booster: I appreciate your input.
In that case, I'll let you know when I know what works.
I guess a pressure adjustable regulator with a broad PSI range might be the answer.
My question...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

From Roadtrek Service (thought I'd go back to the source for their take on it) a few hours ago.....

"The BBQ quick connect system does have a built in regulator but it is “high pressure”, which...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

Have been continuing to research the need (or not) for a BBQ grill with it's own built in regulator when using the on board propane system on my Roadtrek. As far as I know, there is only a hose with...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

Saw the Coleman NXT and 2 Olympian models at Camping World in Florida that stated they could run off low pressure RV propane systems. The Coleman came with a 10 foot hose with the quick connect male...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

From Roadtrek Service....

"The excess flow valve should reset itself if you open the tank valve very slowly, i.e. turn it a little from fully closed, leave it for a minute or two, crack it a bit...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

Good question. I'll send a note to RT Service and ask, as I'm curious about "uncorking"
the excess-flow valve now myself. Sounds to me like your 12' hose may engage it, based
on Peter Lange's reply...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

WOW!
That's a story and a half.
I plan to visit a Camping World next trip south (I don't think they exist in Canada yet)
and see what's available. We've seen the odd one while on the...

Re: "RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

"We have limited the length of our hose that we supply to 8 feet. This was done for a reason, not "just 'cuz". There is already a 4 foot length of hose from the tank valve to the quick-connect. With...

"RT BBQ hoses/connectors/experiences" type question.

Hi everyone,
I originally posted this in Marco's Coleman Stove thread, but thought I'd put it out here for all to see, comment on, make suggestions, etc. - since we just got back from our first long...
