Re: Garmin RV 760LMT

That all looks much more pliable than Garmin's tools and buttons. I like the skip functions for "skip next stop" or"skip to next stop". very nice. That would make Basecamp more user friendly, IMO. I...

Re: Garmin RV 760LMT

Basecamp allows a laptop to be used to build a trip, then transfer it to the GPS unit.
Or, you can build the trip manually on the nuvi itself, but it is probably best to keep them very simple. It...

Re: Garmin RV 760LMT

I tried missing a via point that i added to a route we were on this afternoon, and the nuvi 855 also doesn't seem bothered that we missed it. I was sure it had complained about missing them in the...

Re: Garmin RV 760LMT

I thought that's how it worked after reading up on it a bit. Useless, mostly.

If your 2797 has voice commands ability (you can tell it what to do?) you can use the spoken voice commands "mute",...

Re: Garmin RV 760LMT

Were you sitting on booster's couch when you last used your iToy's GPS functions to get a satellite lock? Maybe you'd have similarly poor results?

Re: Garmin RV 760LMT

Think I get the waypoint versus via point difference. I guess I should fire it up and try Basecamp, to see what's what, and whether it might be worth a shot for our next trip.

When a lane assist...

Re: Garmin RV 760LMT

So, you created the route with some stopovers as waypoints? I believe you mentioned elsewhere that if they were created as waypoints, the nuvi will bug you to go to them? As Via Points it allows you...

Re: Garmin RV 760LMT

That sentence said it all. Now I understand. We're just the opposite. We do a rough trip plan and always have an idea of where we want to wind up, and what we might want to see along the way, but we...

Re: Garmin RV 760LMT

OMG. You are persistent, that's a given.
So, using Basecamp, to create routes on your laptop, then transferring them to your 2797LMT works?
For many of the reasons you mentioned, I have only tried...

Re: Garmin RV 760LMT

I have an older 855 and it has all the shortcomings you've mentioned. I tried loading a route I made using Google Maps. It worked pretty well and took us on the route I had planned, but it does...

Re: Garmin RV 760LMT

That's usually the issue I have with my Garmin, figuring out what the Navteq base map knows something as. You sometimes have to guess or use the "spell name" option to find it. It automatically uses...
