'05/'06 R/T 190V winterizing water system

I'm having a difficult time trying to figure out how to "inactivate" the external water tank (the one most subject to freezing) and fill and use only the internal tank.

The owners manual, besides having almost unusable photos, has written instructions that make not a lot of sense (since the water lines aren't labeled).

Any suggestions (other than writing R/T for help - which I've done) ?

The concept is straightforward (which you no doubt know) Doing it is a little harder. Once you've figured it out label everything for next year. That made it much easier for me.

Inside the van:

Turn off the valve controlling the interconnect between the internal and exterior tanks.

Switch the valve on the pipe leading to the pump to draw from the internal tank.

Outside the van:

Open the valve on the exterior tank to drain that tank.

Passenger side:

The interconnect pipe heads toward the rear of the van. The valve is pictured in the closed position.

Well there's something that I'm not doing correctly.

I've thrown the 2 valves that you've shown in the above pics - G P24-interior tank drain valve and G P13 selector valve - to the closed positions.

Problem is that when I open the exterior tank drain valve the water from both tanks drain.

Faulty valve maybe?

How are you testing it?

After having thrown the valve levers to the positions suggested I added water to the interior tank (at the fill hole located in the rear door frame).

I then checked the monitor panel and saw that the levels in both tanks was equal - indicating, of course, that water is getting to the exterior tank.

This is how the monitor panel in my '04 read the tanks in winter mode:

NOTE: When the water system is operating in the winter mode, only the interior fresh water tank is to be used.

Therefore you must be aware that the interior tanks fluid level is actually empty when the 1/3 L.E.D. light is displayed on the monitor panel.

The monitor panel will indicate that you have full tanks when you have an empty exterior tank & a full interior tank.

Your monitor panel could be different than mine was.

I suggest testing it manually (ignore the panel). Switch the tank selector to the interior tank, close the interconnect, open the exterior drain. Once the exterior drain stops running add water to the interior tank and see if any water exits the exterior drain.

Well, it worked this time - just the interior tank filled and the exterior drain isn't draining - thank you
