My wife and I have a 2010 Roadtrek Agile SS with the power couch. Because of various reasons including age, we would like to convert to permanent twin beds. I know that means removing the power couch. Has anyone made this conversion and if you have, could you give me some guidance. I know that for us, the wood platform needs to be the same height as the rest of the cabinets that are on the floor so there will be room for the passenger side sleeper will have leg room. Ideally someone has done the conversion and has pictures or plans to share. I do want to retain as much storage as possible.

I have a 2014 Pleasureway Plateau.
I removed the rear power sofa.
The i mounted 2x6 studs as rails on both sides of RV in the rear.
This allowed me to put slats across it and a mattress on top.
More storage resulted.
I did not create twin beds.

We just went thru this upgrade on our 2014 GWV Legend EX. It is built on a Sprinter 3500. We had Vintage Base Camp in Louisville KY do it for us. They did an excellent job.

My reply posted before I was done. To the OP: the company we used normally does Airstream trailers but they were generous enough to agree to ours as it was a fairly simple retrofit of taking out the sofa and installing “twin” beds. Yes keeping the height so that there’s enough room for the sleeper’s feet was important as there is a cabinet above the end of the bed on one side. Keep in mind also the height of any mattress//foam you I’ll be using. For storage the base of the bed is hinged for easy accces from inside but only halfway. The base is built like a squared off U and across the top the storage is accessible from the outside. I will try to post photos in a separate post.

I would appreciate as many photos as you can provide. I know this is very doable but as I've gotten older, my prep often takes longer than the actual job.

In addition to the twin bed conversion we had them reupholster the captain chairs as they were beginning to deteriorate. Also, we had Lagun Tables installed. But I will try to post photos of the bed conversion and storage as mentioned above as that relates to your post. Good luck on whatever you do.

They matched the base to existing cabinets quite well; also they installed lights on the inside of the storage areas for greater visibility. Another small detail: they had to install a new CO2 detector as the remodel would've covered up the existing one.

The C shaped rear permanent bed is getting to be quite common and is the same as you got in the old Roadtreks if you left out the center aisle spanning board.

We removed our power sofa in our 07 Roadtrek and replaced it with a permanent bed nearly 15 years ago and have never regretted it. It is the C shaped configuration.

I did not use wood framing, though, as the goal was to gain clear span storage across all the rear storage. I used 1" square steel tubing welded up frame with a single layer of 3/4" lightweight plywood plus a curved sheet metal pillow stop, stiffener brace across the wide and otherwise unsupported rear edge.

Lots of ways to do it all, and getting more common every day as folks get tired of making a bed every day.

Hi Slow-Joe, About 10 years ago, we removed the power bed and added twin beds. We have never regretted it! The center cushions are for our small dog, who travels with us. The tabletop supports the center cushions. Some storage is under the separate bunks as well.

All the best...

Thank you! If you don't mind, what width are your beds and how thick a mattress?

This looks like what I want to do. Thank you.

Fellow Class B - fairly new having spent just 10 nights in our 2018 RT Adventurous. Learning to convert the bed has been FUN. Curious those that have changed to twins, what do you use for bedding? We’ve tried a mattress cover and king size sheets. Real fun getting sheets to stay. Most recently used sleeping bags and didn’t use bridge to make king, used as twins. Curious what others used?

Many, like us, use Travasaks or sleeping bags. Just unroll and go to bed, reroll in the morning. Super easy to do.

Regarding size of twin beds ours are 75” long and 28” wide with 5” high “mattress” which is high density foam inside marine grade vinyl upholstery. Like Booster said we used Travasaks when it was a sofa bed and intend to continue using them now that it is twin beds. Haven’t actually had chance to travel since we did the conversion so it will be interesting to see how we adjust. ☺️
