2014 Sprinter Roof rack queries

HI Folks I have yet to take delivery of my 2014 Sprinter 144 Mid height roof but I'm looking for comment on Roof Rack / bars. It has a side awning (Fiammh?) mid mounted A/C unit.
My needs are that I want to transport a 14ft Pygmy wood kayak up there (possibly two!) any thoughts ?

AC could prevent Kayak center mounting. I would suggest to mount wide 80/20 bars to Hein’s mounts. Get kayak mounts from for example Thule or Malone and attach them on each side outside AC.

DIY mounts by Hein, he made production mounts modeled on my solar mount proto. Sprinter Tower Brackets for 8020(TM) 15 Series - DIYvan These mounts would require some modification to allow bare extending beyond roof rails. You can copy my design modified to except wide bars, not very difficult modification, could be as simple as rotating them 180 degree which would give you 22.725" + 4" to center on the none owning side. To accomodate awning the mounts would need to be taller placing crossbar above awning.
