First Post hope this is correct forum.

Hey all,

I've got a 2018 sprinter Diesel 4-wheel drive that yesterday started displaying a constant message on the dashboard display (between Spedo and RPM gages) that reads:

"Activating

OFF ROAD"

I've spaced it out like it appears on the display. My dealer Keys' European of Van Nuys has no idea what that means as they've never heard of or seen that one before, Ha! They'er good guys over there so I'm trying to help diagnosis with some online research.

So, does anyone know what this constant message means? Nothing I do or have tried gets the message to go away.

Thanks in advance for any help or insight on this one.

:thanx:

I don't have a Mecedes diesel, but have you done a general google search and posted on any sprinter forums?

Did the google search - nothing came up. I even scoured through the ops manual. Also nothing.

If your 2018 Sprinter 4X4 has two speed all-wheel drive with LOW RANGE mode there may be some sort of malfunction in the DSR (Downhill Speed Regulation) system. DSR supports you with the LOW RANGE transmission ratio when you are driving downhill off road.

I've attached a copy of three pages from 2018 Sprinter Owners Manual that discusses DRS. It works in conjunction with the cruise control system so it is a totally electronic system.

My guess is some sensor has malfunctioned or hung up and the system keeps trying to activate the DRS "OFF ROAD" mode.

Have you driven in RWD only with cruise control engaged? That might clear the message. Just a guess as I have no first hand knowledge of the 4X4 system.

Also talk to your dealer again and see if they can get some help from MB USA corporate technical experts. Or maybe they have someone who knows the 4X4 systems.

Good Luck,
