Does anyone know anything about these units? The were last manufactured in 2001 I believe.

I've run across a very nice one with 51K miles on it. It's unique with a rear entry. It does have a rather high roof, kind of like the older Airstreams and actually looks exactly like the roof line on the Airstream Westfailia that was built on the Sprinter chassis.

Had I found a good one of these for sale I'd very likely be writing from inside of it instead of my mini "C". It was banging my head on the aisle air conditioner in a Pleasure-Way Excel that deleted the B-Class from my consideration. But with 6'3" headroom...my C only has two inches more. That would have been fine.

Not sure about black tank size in the normal config if 12 gallons is larger.

I found a 2000 american cruiser on line here in tx and think it is a good floorplan for me but the miles 103,000 on a 2000 mod veh. scares me,also they are asking $18,995 for it . Sooo. my questions are does anyone think good or bad about this one and do you know of any other units like it for sale?

I have a '95 Pleasure Way on a Dodge chassis with, 318 cid engine and 100,000 miles. Those numbers really don't mean too much to me in terms of vehicle reliability - it's the driving history, maintenance record and vehicle/mechanical condition that count. Only issue I've had is the occasional need for a part replacement when the Chrysler dealer says they need to search for a "vintage" part.
If you look at it and seriously consider purchasing, make sure you get a thorough mechanical inspection first; then an inspection of the RV systems, plus a real test drive.

I have a 1999 American Cruiser 2000 I purchased a few months ago. It has a Dodge 360 motor with 40,000 miles and it performs great. I love the rear entry door, the large bed, overhead entertainment center and custom look. The only thing I wish it had was a shower. We have used it several times now and have had no problems. It has a 4000 watt onan generator mounted underneath it that works great but I wonder why it is so large.
In my opinion I think the unit you are looking at is over priced considering the mileage but I am new to this market so I could be wrong.

Okay, I will admit it: I am massively in love with the American Cruiser!

However, I have not been able to find the information you shared here. Where and how did you find all this info?

One important thing for anyone considering buying one of these is that SOME of them do have SERIOUS handling problems. Folks who have had them recommend taking them for a test drive on the highway preferably some where trucks will be passing you. The ones that have the problem will be blown all over when a truck passes.

I would think if the vehicle has high mileage, you probably wouldn't really have to worry about this -- but a low mileage vehicle might not be the good deal it appears to be.

I am having a horrible time finding one for myself! Almost every time I find one, someone beats me to it.

I want a newer one. I like the seats and cabinetry in the later ones better. Although it seems as though the changes they made were not necessarily year specific. I believe I saw pictures of the interior of one 1999 that was like what I have seen in the 2000's.

Also, I have not been able to find out why they quit making these. I love the floorplan and I love the rear door! I love them so much that if I can't find one, getting a different Class B will be a bit of a disappointment.

Markopolo, do you know: Who made these and why they stopped? I would really like to know.

I just bought a 1999 American Cruiser in June. We love it. We were returning from Acadia National Park in our old Sherrod high top Ford conversion van. At Accadia, we had admired a number of Roadtreks and had agreed that we'd love to have a Class B but probably would never be able to afford one. On the trip home we passed a used RV dealer that had a class B out front. We stopped for a look and fell in love. It was an American Cruiser in great shape - 98000 miles - everything works - runs and rides great. The best part was the price. It was an estate sale on consignment and they only wanted $8,900 for it. Needless to say, we put a deposit down and went to the bank. We've made several trips in it so far and haven't noticed any adverse handling, even in gusty highway driving. It tugs a little but it much more stable than the Sherrod was. My interior is the same layout as the schematic and photos in one of the prior e-mails. If you can find one, I highly recommend you buy it. It a great unit for 2 people. I plan to retire in 3 years and we plan to hit the road in ernest then.

I just picked up a 1997 American Cruiser on a Dodge chassis. I can scan and share the documentation that came with it, if you'd like. If yours is a different chassis, it might not be very useful.
