Awning Fiamma removeal 210 RT pop

I’d like to remove my awning to do some caulking to see if it will stop a small leak I’m having my understanding is that there are either screws or rivets that can be reached by opening the awning slightly. Then two or three people can lift it off. I’ll do my caulking and then does anyone have recommendations on resecuring are there The two screws are rivets it doesn’t seem like much to hold it?

I’m doing this exercise because I have a small leak that sometimes appears in the light just to the aft of the wardrobe or at the very bottom of the wardrobe, strangely neither side of the wardrobe panel gets wet it just comes outThe bottom trim?

I recently did this on my 02 190 Chevy. Mine had 2 rivets at each of the three brackets. I took a chisel and removed the rivet heads and then my son and I lifted the awning off of the brackets.

After I got all my gutter sealing completed - which did stop my leaking issue - we placed the awning back on the brackets by lining up the holes on the awning with the protruding body of the rivets. That will make sense when you see it. Once it was all lined up I put screws in the holes where the rivet heads were removed. Worked fine, the awning is fastened securely.

What length/size screws did you use. I tried to drill the river bodies out, but... Don't think I can re-rivet it back on.

The rivets would most likely be pop rivets that have a pull pin up the middle of them to pull the blind end of rivet into a head. The pull pin breaks off inside the rivet once tight. The pull pin that is left in place doesn't hurt anything.


When dealing with pop rivets, my normal method of removal is to drill of the head with bit that is the body of the rivet. Just the head so very shallow. Once loose a push with a screwdriver to pull it off the rest of the way works or carefully with a small chisel or putty knife. I don't personally like to grind them off or chisel as that can stick them worse sometimes.


Once the head is off it is best to use a lightly smaller pin punch to punch the remaining rivet and pull pin out to the inside. This will leave the proper size hole for the new rivet or screw. Drilling a pop rivet out is likely going to mess up the hole or not work because the bit hits the stuck pin which just spins without cutting. Even if the pin is not there as soon as the head is loose, the rivet itself may spin and never get drilled.



If the hole does getting messed up, drill a new one next to it and seal the old one up so get good rivet hold.

i just used some stainless steel screws that were a tad bigger than the existing rivet bodies that were still intact. i cant say for certain what size they were. because i chiseled the rivet heads off i was able to put the awning back on and the rivet bodies went back into their existing holes. then i used the screws in the holes in the rivet bodies. sounds confusing but it was quite simple once you see it.
