I misjudged a turn (thank you migraine, i shouldn't have been driving) and hit a concrete post. Pulled some paneling loose on the side near wheel well in back and door of generator compartment. What is the best temporary waterproofing fix for a few weeks until we are able to get it repaired? I am seeing gorilla waterproof tape. Painters tape with Putty Tape underneath. But don't want problems taking it off when the final repairs are done. I also need ideas for replacing that darn door. Needless to say I am very angry at myself

What year/chassis are you working on?

I think any duct tape based product will end up separating the surface from the glue backing leading to a lot of labor to get the adhesive off what it's on.

Will your other option you mention with a putty knife ruin the finish?

Depending on the size of the crack, I've had good luck using electrical tape. Typically comes off in one piece and not a lot of adhesive left over. But its not very wide. Maybe there's a wide electrical tape/similar product out there.

I did find this. Seems like pvc vinyl tape may be what you need.

Is the generator compartment made of degradable material where water intrusion is an issue, or more metal or fiberglass construction where water doesn't degrade the material?

The generator door came completely off. I need a new one.
