Building a B RV Home

We have decided to build a carport to house the PW Excel TS. The problem lies in where we live. We are in the heart of hurricane alley in South Florida (10 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean - Martin/Palm Beach County lines). We have decided on a Carolina Carport http://www.carolinacarportsinc.com/ on a 4" poured slab. 12 gauge steel in an open design built to withstand 140 knot winds and offer some degree of shade from the sun.

Ballpark figures are about $1200 for the slab and about $1700 - 2200 for the steel carport (dependng on roofline). I will post pictures and info as we go thru the process.

Should be interesting. Should I have a 30 Amp line run out to the carport and keep the RV plugged in all the time? Thoughts / suggestions?

If your batter charger is working properly, it shouldn't hurt the batteries. Or, you could leave the batter switch turned off, and just use the AC outlets for power.

Are you planning to leave the refrigerator running all the time?

We get a lot of humidity down here so would like to run a small dehumidifier and be able to plug up the refrig a few hours before we leave on trips.

You should be able to run the dehumidifier on the AC outlets. Then, when you go out to fire-up the fridge, just switch on the battery power and the fridge. This is assuming your electrical system is set up similar to our RT.

We added a 30 amp outlet. Comes in handy when we get ready for trips, have visitors with RV's, and if someone uses the "B" for overnight. You can get an adapter the converts the 30amp into a 20 amp outlet.

I have two of the adaptors but they hang out of the socket and that is not good for the plug. Would like something a bit more professional looking.
