Members discussed how to create a remote propane refill kit for a campervan using a Flame King YSN ASME 5.9-gallon tank. The original poster sought advice on the necessary hose and fittings, aiming to avoid the high cost of commercial kits. Several RVers recommended consulting a propane dealer or distributor, as they can provide custom hoses and ensure the correct, safe fittings are used. Links to commercial kits and specific fittings were shared, but most emphasized the importance of using...

I also am having trouble understanding what you are trying to do.

You want to fill your tank at home or do you want to put the necessary fittings and connections to get the tank filled at a propane seller?

Numerous have asked "what are you trying to do". Propane is dangerous stuff and the normal fill kit attaches right to the tank and fits the fill connector at supplier. You also need to have a spit valve at 80% and also an OPD valve in the tank. I think a gauge is also required, but not sure. Shop around, but having a propane shop do the install might be a good idea in the long run as it could protect the liability of a failure, van loss, etc.

I am looking for the hose to make a remote refill for under the RV

Propane fittings are very expensive and so is the hose and even the teflon tape. The Nashfuel one is going to probably be typical. You don't want to mess with lesser quality than approved fittings and hose as propane can be very dangerous,IMO.

I've followed this thread from the beginning, and I'm still not quite sure what you are looking to do. It's recently been asked if you want to refill the camper tank, and the response was no, then the next response is you're asking for a remote refill for the under the van tank, which implies that you do want to refill the camper tank.

Or are you looking to be able to fill the under the camper tank from a remote refill port somewhere besides having to nearly get under the van to fill the tank, and if so, are you looking to refill from 20lb propane cylinders or ? Can you provide a little longer explanation on what you're trying to accomplish?

In my 14 years of RVing, I have never seen or heard of a class B with a remote propane tank refill system. As a retired aviation safety guy, I would never knowingly park beside one (assuming that they exist). lol

Roadtrek had them on some of the earlier models before the Chevies.
What would this Forum do without our Booster!

FWIW, I asked “AI" why Roadtrek had discontinued installing remote propane tank refill systems on their Class B Roadtrek Dodge vans. I found the response to be “eye opening”.
IMHO, it would be wise for anyone thinking of installing their own remote propane tank refill kit to conduct similar research prior to making their final decision.

Yep, I can imagine what the AI thought and said as it is a bit scary. Here is an old thread that talks about the system a bit. Aside from the hazard you still had to go underneath and shut off the manual valve "except when the van was in use". Of course every fill place will also want it off also per the 1999 manual for a Dodge Roadtrek.
