Chassis lifespan

In your experience how long can a van chassis be expected to last in a B van application before the repairs are too much for it to remain worthwhile?

Do you see automatic transmissions as more or less of a regular maintenance item that can be expected to require periodic replacement, or should they really last the life of the chassis? How about engines?

Do you think that the chassis life is usually the limiting factor in the live of a B, or does the coachwork fail first? Or does everything kinda go at once?

I think it depends on who owns it, and how it is maintained,
just like any other device, or specifically any other vehicle.
Most Bs are built on a base vehicle that's more likely to be sold and used
in commercial applications. Does that mean the manufacturers build
them to last longer than something primarily for passenger use?
I don't know, but it might.

Just my 2 cents. 8)
