Class B w/ Macerator

The Roadtrek Promaster line has it. And one great benefit is that they also have a backup gravity system for those times that maybe the macerator breaks... or you drop something into the black tank and you need to do a gravity dump to get it out.

Thanks, I saw the Roadtrek but didn’t know about Grech RV. Airstream has them too.
I was hoping pleasire way did as I am going small this time, 22 feet or less but it doesn’t appear that is the case.

Probably be buying used so will be a couple years old.

Depending on the configuration of the plumbing, adding a macerator isn't the most difficult of tasks.

My 2016 Roadtrek Simplicity is less than 20 feet...the macerator has its own hose, but if there's a problem and you have to use the gravity dump, you'll need to buy the bigger hose AND find a place for it!

Yes but you still have both options which is great. Most of us bought the cheapest gravity hose possible and if the macerator dies and you need to use it, we just throw it in the trash.

On our 2018 Roadtrek we have a macerator and the Y valve from the tanks has a manual 2" screw port that you could attach to in case of macerator failure, but it wouldn't be very convenient to use. While I like the macerator because it is so easy to use, and you don't have to store a hose I think I will be changing the plumbing to have both ways to dump in case of pump failure. This would allow me to purchase a cheap hose if we were on a trip or I could just take one incase.

There is a lot of information on home done "dual dump" systems. Folks here were doing it before the earliest factory one came out and before other places also addressed the topic.

We have had one in our 190P for many years and never have needed it, but having it is a really good way to prevent a ruined trip. I test it each spring to make sure the valve works OK.

Numerous discussion to read with several on Roadtreks.

I did a bus conversion and had both gravity and macerater. I lived full time for 10 years and used the macerater maybe 5 times. One place we put a 50 gallon drum in a tractor bucket used the macerater to fill the drum and took it to the sewer manhole and emptied it. It was too wet to move the unit at the time!
