Well, the fridge is up and running but it was a strange road to get there.
I started through the troubleshooting guide. Checking all the wiring behind the fridge, I noticed the DC neg ground cable was loose. Tightened it up and re-checked. No good. At least that would explain the pathetic DC performance.
Checking all the other wires and connections, they looked good. Put a voltmeter on it... 11.5 volts at the terminal. That should be good enough to light. Checked propane...it's flowing to other appliances. Took the door and the bottom cover off. Unfortunately I can't get the switches and lighter that way. I'll have to get at them through the back.
So I'm poking around in the back again looking at how to get the switches out and my hand brushes up against the heater unit. It's hot. What the ? I turn the fan off and listen carefully. I can hear the burner going! I go back to the front and check the sight glass. It's clear, no indication that the unit is in operation. I go back a few hours later and confirm that the fridge is starting to cool down.
So the bottom line is that I guess it was working the whole time. I never left the propane on long enough to find out because I always trusted the sight glass to indicate if the burner was operating. Crazy.
