Dumping cassette toilet.

I am contemplating adding a recent invention by FITRV fellow to my methods of dumping cassette. Cassettes allow dumping in any type of toilets but dumping into a hole in the ground like RV dump stations, or sewer accepting campsites is challenging without spills. We have a binary style of choosing campsites, without any facilities or very often with full hookups. In both cases I can use campground toilets but in a full hookup campsite I can’t use campsite’s sewer hole because dumping is practically impossible without spills, and toilets are often far away, far away for a 5 gallons heavy cassette.

I remember his feedback requesting video years ago, then I thought about issue of carrying a dirty dumping hose and dirty Amerianizer. His patent is related to keeping Americaniser clean (see the video) and the hose could be just 2’ long and easier to clean than a long hose.

Yep, we have seen numerous campers trying to dump at the dump stations.


They generally just dump it at let it go wherever it wants in the concrete basin, and then wash it down the drain with water, or many time without and leaving an ugly mess worse than the worst slinky dumpers do.

Unfortunately, some folks don’t know how to use a water hose.

I think the problem with the whole “Americanizer” thing is now you have the adapter and hose that are unsanitary after use. If you have water you can clean them, sort of. Not as good as running 10 gallons of soapy grey water through them. You also have to find a container for them and a place to store them. So for that reason I have stayed away from what I think is a bad idea. If the campground only has individual site hookups I don’t stay there.

Cassette Dumping

We have a cassette and we just dump down the toilet; For the facilities that are a long ways away from our site, we dump on the way out or coming back into the park, when we are close to the toilets. There usually is short term parking by most toilets for a quick dump.

We also subscribe to the South American model of no ‘loo’ paper in the cassette. We recycle the many zip lock bags that food comes in (frozen vegetables, cereal etc.) for disposing of the loo paper in the trash cans. Makes the whole dumping process quick and easier. We can clean the cassette at home when we can swirl soapy water into the cassette and dump again.

The more I read, the more attached I get to my fully-sealed macerator system. If I thought I needed to dump in a toilet, I would carry a small jerry can for the purpose and use the macerator to fill it.

Please clarify how bag’n bucket is better than a cassette so it doesn’t look like mine is better comment. I agree with Avanti that a fully sealed macerator system is very good for continues use, and a double macerator system even better but have hard time see a bucket system being better than any other system for #1 and #2.

Never have to clean anything—just toss the bag and install a fresh one. Imagine being boondocked a number of days and one of you has explosive diarrhea that doesn’t politely point downward. This has only happened once, but OMG I was so thankful I didn’t have to clean anything! This also means that my toilet never smells of vinegar or anything else that people use to clean toilets.

Bucket is small and weighs maybe half a pound? And it is discreet. I can take it into a restaurant toilet past rows of diners and nobody has ever batted an eye.

I agree that any RV human waste management system can be overwhelmed in possible corner cases such as diarrhea, leaking bag, broken macerator, leaking waste tank etc. I am struggling to see bucket benefits for #1 and #2.

Given how the bag dumps, however, it would be an easy matter to dump directly into a hole. Same controlled stream as pouring into a toilet.

Are you collecting urine in a bag and dump in a restaurant toilets, that is a at least a gallon of fluid with solids for a couple per day?

If you indeed walking in between diners with one gallon of human waste in a bag I am sure you use a military grade bag, any bag rupture could be disastrous and rather unwelcome by the establishment.

Disguising any action from carrying human waste between diners to stealth camping is trying to hide behavior not normally acceptable.

What do you mean by "double macerator'? Two redundant ones? or something else?
