Does anyone know? Can't seem to find it by googling. Of course, I could just take Onans technical description and be satisfied with it: ..."low"...

My Honda 3000 watt inv/generator burns about 1 gal every 3.5 hours depending on load.

I did read that an onan propane gens burn about 1.5 gals per hour, and diesel about .5 gal per hour. Gas somewhere in between?

We've owned all 3 types of Onan and your numbers are pretty close to our experiences. I like the propane the best, it's the quietest and least finicky, but it uses the most fuel. The gas was my least favorite of all 3....

Onan specs show 0.4 gal/hr at half load and 0.5 gal/hr at full load for the 2800 gas generator. Compared to the Honda inverter generator, the synchronous (fixed speed) Onan unit might be a bit more efficient at full load. But at partial loads the Honda inverter system can reduce speed for more efficient (and quieter) operation while still maintaining output voltage and frequency via the inverter.

BTW, the Onan 2500 propane generator uses 0.6 gal/hr at full output. So about 20% more fuel for 10% less electrical outlet. Propane fuel has 27% lower specific energy than gasoline so those comparative outputs sound about right.
