There is a serious draft and unless the heat is blowing, it gets really cold. Any suggestions for keeping the cool air out?

We cut Reflectix panels that friction fit in all the windows. Our bigger problem has been heat gain in warm weather, but they should help with cold, too. They’re easy to selectively remove to let in sun or open views as needed.

Just one idea.

check for air leaks- use smoke from the end of a cigarette or incense stick


if no air leak or draught



could be a lack of insulation?

Incense? Great idea. So do i just walk around the outside with someone inside to check for the smoke leak???

You may find this experiment interesting:

Close all doors, windows, openings. Now open Fantastic or Max fan, turn on high, blowing in not out if possible.

The only way to do better would be dual pane windows, which require a flat wall. Most vans are curved a bit.

If it is a "serious draft", it should be obvious where it is coming from. How cold outside? Have you checked to insure all the windows are closed. You may need to get a insulated pad to cover the inside portion of the Fantastic or Max fan. That plastic outside cover is not very insulated. Turn your thermostat higher.

It's a Promaster. For most of us (over on the Zion/Simplicity Owners Facebook page), the draft issue is the doors. Both the sliding door and the rear doors... some of us just one of those and some of us both of them (me... the rear doors). If you do a lot of camping in the cold, most of us have figured out adding an insulated curtain over both when parked. There have been a few photos posted. I also put a curtain across the cab at night.

I had a major air leak around my water heater that I easily plugged. There was also quite a gap around the p trap for the shower. This was in a RoadTrek Simplicity.
