Coming back to the forum after a break. Have had three VW campers: 1959 panel DIY, 1986 Westfalia, 1990 Westfalia. Now driving a 2022 Promaster 136WB high top. Conversion by GTRV of Sebastopol California. Classic Westfalia layout with folding bench seat/bed, kitchen behind driver, storage under bed and along driver side behind kitchen.
Looking into installing a propane water heater, likely tankless Suburban Nautilus for ease of install. Concerned about lag and water waste. Looking into recirculation, "Water Miser", and other ideas for reducing lag and waste.

Did you consider Malaga 3.5gal, smaller than Suburban 6 gal, RV water heater Malaga Hot Water Heater • Propane Water Storage heater. An Isotemp Slim Square 4 gal marine water heater plus hydronic furnace - Isotherm and Isotemp products I have Isotemp 4 gal cylindrical under the van with Espar d5 diesel furnace.
