Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a 2000 Dodge Roadtrek 190 Popular, and this is my first time owning a camper van. Originally, I planned to buy an empty cargo van and do a full custom build. However, I decided on the Roadtrek because it was much easier to insure and it already had the fresh, black, and grey water tanks installed, along with the propane system.

That said, I’ve decided to modify parts of the interior so it better fits how I want to travel and live in it for a while.

I’ve been watching a lot of van conversion videos, and most builds show metal ribs inside the van walls that people use to mount cabinets. After removing the paneling and insulation on the rear driver-side wall, I discovered what appears to be just flat sheet metal rather than structural ribs.

Does anyone have advice on how to securely mount custom cabinets in the back of these vans?

While browsing the forums, I did see photos of what’s behind the kitchen area, and I believe there might be a vertical rib there, but I can’t remember which Roadtrek model the person had.

Any advice, photos, or resources I could look at would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance.
