Hello, I hope I am doing this correctly. This is my first post. I just found this website about a week ago.

I am going to make an offer on an older (112,000 miles) Roadtrek tomorrow. I plan to take it to a trusted mechanic foe an evaluation before any deal is done.

Does anybody have any specific advice?

i'd also get to an RV specialist too- not only for evaluation, but to teach you how all the systems work.

roadtrek has legacy brochures on the website, you can see what "should" be there

2000 Roadtrek 190 Popular 112,000 miles

Pretty clean, everything seems to work.

This was a transition period for the 190. Some are Dodges, some Chevies.

You can go to www.roadtrek.com and go to the Support page and download the Owner's manual for the 190 Popular for 1999-2000.

Check for smooth operation of the black and grey water slide valves. Have some water put in the black and grey tanks to see that they don't leak and that nothing leaks past the slide valves when closed.

To give you an idea of the market price for the vintage you are looking at, surf the Roadtrek offerings at rvt.com

The bathroom setup is a little unusual. The toilet is mounted transversely and I wouldn't call it very private. Later years offered a fore and aft wet bath more like what you typically see in Class Bs today.

These coaches don't have much ground clearance so make sure there is no underfloor damage.

Check that the water heater functions. If the refrigerator is a three way AC/DC/Propane it's an absorption type that is sensitive to proper coach leveling and if not observed can permanently damage the unit. Have it demonstrated in all three modes.

If you can borrow an OBD II code reader, you can plug it into the coach to check if there are any engine faults indicated.

Pulled the Trigger

Well I bought it today. I will pick it up Friday (when my check clears) .Thanks for your help. I took it to a garage and all mechanical systems checked out well. It cost me $89 for a 90-point used car evaluation. Well worth the money. Any way I paid $12995 for it. It has 113,000 miles. Dodge chassis. 318 V8.

you can wave at everyone on the road...but you can spot another RT at a distance- they have 3 windows up top...or sometimes 3 stickers what looks like windows.

13,000 is a very good buy for a coach that looks like it's in pretty good condition.

The 318 is a bullet proof engine and service and parts for it are available everywhere.
