Hello everyone, just joined the site and looking forward to getting advice from the pros. I retired in Jan. '17 and my wife and I were discussing getting an RV for traveling and seeing the country with our 14 year old twins. I have been lurking on some of the RV sites and am leaning toward a class B because of the smaller footprint as compared to a B+ or C. I also think a used rig that would sleep 4 in relative comfort would be my ideal choice. I look forward to any and all advice that I can get. Thanks for all the anticipated advice and looking forward to conversing with you all. Regards, Raj.:thanx:

I'm not aware of any Class B that will sleep four in "relative comfort" especially with twin 14 year olds and older. You might look into Roadtreks with 4 captain chairs that make into two beds up front but in my opinion would not be relative comfort when those upfront beds are probably designed for small children.

You also have to consider other comforts such as storage of clothing and personal effects for four, food and refrigeration for four, and fresh water and waste tanks which probably were never designed for more than two people unless you replenish and dump about every other day.

A Class B can be very confining especially in inclement weather because you can't move easily about inside with four people.

We have traveled with our son and two grandsons when we had a back sofa with three seatbelts but they had to sleep in a tent. We traveled that way just ONCE. I love Class Bs, but I think bigger RV motorhomes or trailers are the way to go with 4 people.

Hymer Aktiv Loft Edition

If you're interested in European style class B campers you might consider the Hymer Aktiv 2.0 Loft Edition:

Hymer advertises the Aktiv Loft Edition for families up to six, but that's assuming two very small children sleeping crosswise on the bench seat. A more realistic arrangement would be two full sized sleepers on the main rear bed and two more in the pop-top loft.

Note this type of Euro-style camper does NOT have rooftop air-conditioning. So it's more like a classic VW campervan on steroids, plus luxury touches such as bathroom/shower, microwave, TV, etc.

When the twins are grown you may find you prefer sleeping up in the loft anyway. Although we love our current Sprinter van the most memorable experiences were from our old Westfalia pop-top, such gazing out over Arches National Park and the La Sal mountains perched in our own private treehouse. It's a unique experience!

We have a 1995 Xplorer. It has a bed in back and a sofa up front that turns into a bed. You could sleep 4 but I would not. Black water tank would need dumping about every day with 4. Plus refidgrator is very small. Great for 2 but that's about it.
