Hole in RT shower faucet

We have owned our RT 190V for just over a year now. I tried using the outside water faucet, and noticed an extra hole in the outlet. The inside shower faucet has the same hole.

I searched the forum for any discussion on this, but could not find any info.

Does anyone have any idea why there is an extra hole in this piece. You can't stop the water from flowing.

I have no idea. I believe it's the same as mine ('02 190P).
Pressure relief, or easy flex hose drainage after use, perhaps?

With the water on, and the hose hooked up, the water runs out the hole, when the sprayer is closed.

Perhaps it prevents pressure (relief) build up while you have the "sprayer closed",
so that you don't damage something more important/expensive like your water pump
or a PEX hose fitting or pipe, or your sprayer for the sake of a trickle of water.
Until you mentioned it, I never noticed it, as we don't use our showers internal or external.
I was just just trying to think of why it might be there.
Perhaps you could ask Roadtrek service.

Hmmm. The system seems to work fine, when sealed up, without damaging the pump. There is pressure behind the valves, all the time.

Do any other RT owners have this same fitting? Do you just live with the constant trickle, while using the inside/outside shower?

Roadtrek replied to an e-mail I sent them. The hole is for a pressure relief.

I am wondering what part of the hose/handle assembly can not handle the 45psi. I replied to their e-mail, to see what part is the weak link, or if there is some other reason for the pressure relief hole. We will see.

A new reply from Roadtrek. There is supposed to be a rubber washer in the fitting. This will hold the pressure, and not leak. It also prevents siphoning back into the fresh water tank, if/when the pressure is let off (pump off).

Bottom line - it should be there, and it should not dribble during use.

Hmmm, I circumvented that system when I changed out that faucet and shower I guess

No problems with ours so far, glad it doesn't seem too critical.

That is a vacuum breaker, it's a device to prevent backflow. It is also commonly used on residential water system, this is where you attach your garden hose outside the house. It prevents the water from the garden hose to backflow into your potable water system and prevent possible contamination.The hole is to relieve pressure to the attached hose only, it should not continously drip or leak. If it does, 2 reasons: the pressure inside the hose exceeds its threshold thus leaks, but most commonly the rubber seal inside has failed.
