I'm driving a B again. It's a great feeling - we'll be able to tour around etc.

It's older - 1997 and custom built for a short guy. No gen, no roof air. I like it because the van part is in great shape, garaged kept etc. and the 6.5 liter Turbo Diesel and only 63,000 kms on the digital odometer. Looks like 140 watts of solar on the roof and a 1750 watt inverter. The price was right too. I do like to fix things...... Maybe some projects to post

Did 18.5 mpg and 17.5 mpg (US) for 400km and 600 km runs on the way home. Not bad even with diesel costing 5% more than gas here.

The inside could use some fixing up. Wear and tear from use. The layout is much like an RT190p with optional armoire. The aisle is narrower and the ceiling height is lower. There is a sit down shower with toilet combo. The oak plywood has darkened some since this photo from an appraisal.

Two things I thought I should point out for anyone looking at buying a used custom camper van conversion.

1. carbon monoxide detector - this van doesn't have one. They can be placed high in the van. (near the ceiling)
2. propane gas detector - this van has one but it is near the ceiling. A propane gas detector should be placed low. (near the floor)

Congrats Marko!! Your ingenious ideas and strong DIY - your going to have fun. Although it don't have all the whistles and bells, I am willing to bet in about a three month timeframe we will hear you have added many neat projects. Safe travels.

Maybe it doesn't matter for the CO detector. From Wikipedia:

CO detectors can be placed near the ceiling or near the floor because CO is very close to the same density as air

CO is approx 3% lighter than air according to some chemistry related web sites but mixes with "air" readily. Placing the CO detector at eye level or 5 above the floor seems to be recommended often.

Darn...mine is right at the floor ...just below my vanity which has an in. or two overhang...I've got to get down on my hands and knees to see/test it.
BTW...I've cut one wire to mine as it was going off randomly....while driving, and while just parked in my driveway with nothing else on etc. It's new and I think it may be faulty? I'll take it in to a local RV tech soon as I think it's something I don't want to be without....

Van looks like it is in great shape I always thought it was strange you didn't have a B. Welcome
