I have 86 roadtrek limited edition with 318 engine 120,000 miles, new transmission, new front end ect. I am solo with my dog and want to head south for the winter from N Idaho. Is it easy to find repair shops that know about this engine in case something happens.

Any mechanic over the age of 30 should know a 318 (5.2L) inside and out. If they don't, run far away... screaming.

Find a mechanic over 40 and they would probably be more than happy to work on your engine blindfolded as they are simple, robust and parts are cheap and plentiful.

Thank you. I love this van and with new transmission and all I hope I get lots of years with it. The inside is beautiful.

We have a 1995 Dodge 3500 Xplorer 2300. Engine is 360. Never had problem getting it worker on.

Might suggest that you acquire an extra ECU for your camper. I had a recent issue with no start that ended up being just a bad ignition coil, but I found out that my 1993 Roadtrek ECU is no longer available at the local part stores due to age. I did get the correct one from Rock Auto so I now have a spare one that I carry. They can be rebuilt but why have to wait for it to come back when you are traveling. The 5.2 and 5.9 Magnum engines are very reliable motors and good for many miles. Mine has 106K on it and runs great.
