Any suggestions on model, brand, size of a new house battery. Mine died and I'm scheduled for a short trip next Monday!

Get the biggest deep cycle battery you can fit in your battery box. As for brand you can get a good on or bad one in any brand but I had good luck with Interstate Batteries.

I use Elite. Get one that shows the cranking power, I'm told, because if the manufacturer will show that on the battery, it will be a good one.

Thanks for the replys. Got what I hope is a good one and it's installed. Built a few muscles with that one I think!

Hi,
Sorry I'm late chipping in, but i just saw your thread/post.
I would agree that when it comes to batteries, total amp hours and reserve capacity (to me) are the most
important deep cycle house battery numbers to look for, that fit in your particular battery tray or box.
Go as big as you can, without losing the fit in the tray or storage area of the battery. I recently replaced
my original coach batteries, that were 2 lead acid wet cells (most typical type of deep cycle), with 2 AGM
type batteries (absorbant glass mat). AGMs are sealed, are supposed to have the least amount of capacity
loss when idle, but tend to be a bit more expensive. I got 2 Group 27, high capacity and ah reserve rating,
weight (they are heavy!!) about 70 lbs. each, for around $200/each. I don't know what brands you have available
where you live, but Interstate and Trojan are supposed to be good. Mine are made in PA by E.P.M. Products.
I've seen good comments online about them, too.
