New member in Maine

Can anyone tell me if the altinator charges the house battery too? I have been running the generator to power the lights.
Thanks!

You are being redirected... <- Scroll down on that page to download the owners manual for your motorhome. Choose the year, then choose All Dodge models. It will give you a 1999 year manual, this is the correct file.

As the manual states

The auxiliary battery is automatically charged through the isolator by the engine's alternator while the engine is running.

The generator will also charge the battery and when plugged into shore power it will also charge.

Download your manual and check it out, a lot of useful info in there. Any other questions feel free to ask!

Hi Marcia
Congratulations, you will have lots of fun... I'm new here too and just got my RT170 last August - mine's just 1 year younger.

It had the original factory battery - 15yrs old. It was one of the first thing I replaced but also replaced the converter unit, as you will quickly find out reading past postings here, the original converter was of an old technology that didn't necessarily charge the batteries properly. Plenty of experts in this forum..just need to ask the questions.
