Does anyone here use one of those Wave-3 or Wave-6 catalytic heaters (http://www.uscatalytic.com/uscatalytic/Heaters.cfm) for their RV, instead of an installed furnace? I've looked into these heaters and they sound perfect:

- uses low-pressure LP gas
- heat thru chemical reaction (flameless combustion)
- low intensity infrared heat
- no heat is lost through a vent or flue
- 99.98% efficient
- can be wall-mounted or portable
- safety
- low cost

So, does anyone use one of these in their RV?? What do you think?

I don't know much about catalytic heaters at all :( but I found a ton of links for more info :D

All of the links indicate that you need have a windows slightly open for safety (carbon monoxide) and that the catalytic process releases moisture (humidity) into your RV if the the Catalytic heater is not vented to the outside.

The biggest advantage (other that low or no power consumption) is that they are silent or very quiet.

The standard furnace used in most RV's are noisy!

I have a little Coleman "tent" heater that has a built-in stand and battery powered fan. Biggest complaint is the amount of moisture catalytic heating produces.

For electric hookups, I take along a radiator-style 1500 watt electric heater. Never had it above lowest settings yet and it doesn't make any noise.

I don't know any details but is it possible they could burn up to much oxygen and not leave enough for you to breath. Even with a safety swith it may fail.
