Onan QG2800i Intake Mesh for Mouse Protection

I have a newly installed onan qg2800i. I am thinking about installing stainless 1/4" mesh over the air intake and the openings under the exhaust to keep mice out. Has anyone done this? I don't think air would be too restricted with 1/4" squares. Thoughts?

I did mine years ago after finding mice nests, no issues since.

I believe that we may have a different, however comparable example. Since 2015, there has been a 1/4 inch plastic mesh screening covering our 2012 RT 190 Ranger front grill. Our radiator still looks like new. Addition of the screening resulted in no noticeable change in its operating temperature.
