Finally, after 22 years, I've lost a propane cover on the rear bumper. It looks like a black license plate. There on flippers on the van to hold it in place. I think it's in California at Joshua Tree on a washboard dirt road.

Where can I find another one or two? RVe mobile has them priced at $62.00, in Ontario, Canada- then they added a broker fee of $75.00. I didn't go with them at that price, over $142.00.

I can hammer out an old license tag for that. Your thoughts and suggestions ?

Try to find a small sheet metal fabrication shop in your area. It is a very easy piece to make on manual equipment. Perhaps a restoration type auto shop could do it also.

Where we are there is a metal supplier that also does piecework over the counter so unless I had a piece of the right material lying around I would have one sheared to size. It is pretty light stuff so bending it over a pipe isn't too hard to do, especially if you get bendable aluminum.

An old license plate, a pair of tin snips from Harbor Freight and a spray can of flat black is all you need.

Tractor Supply sells small sheets of aluminum and steel. I think I would do like Booster suggested and I don't think it would be much of a project. I have always worried about losing that puppy and check it every time I do a walk around of the Roadtrek, which is every couple of hundred miles. I also keep those little two plastic retainers tight as possible to hopefully prevent trouble.

I attached a wire lanyard between the cover and the bumper so if the retainers break I will not lose the cover. I did that also with the water heater cover. I should probably do that also with the refrigerator vents as well.

Vinyl moulding is cheap. Something like this at HD. ROPPE Matte Vinyl Black 6 in. x 1/8 in. x 120 ft. Wall Cove Base Coil C60C81P100 - The Home Depot

Lost mine this summer because one of the plastic clips that holds it on broke. Anyone ever replace those? Luckily I have a very handy brother who made me 2 new covers out of Stainless Steel so now all I have to do is fix the clips.

Get a piece of vinyl baseboard cove molding for $4 at Amazon. You can make three covers. It even has the curved edge.

One of my flippers broke off too. Rather than replace it, I put a small U-clip on the side of the propane opening where the flipper used to be. Then I put a small phillips screw/washer into the U-clip to hold the black cover down. I keep a small phillips screwdriver in the drivers door pocket for when I need it.

Have a picture? I heard they're worth a thousand words:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Here's a picture. My apologies, it's an enlargement of a section from another pic so very poor quality. Only pic I have of the back of the RV. Now sadly stored off-site for the winter.
Flipper's on the left, screw/washer on the right. U-clip is mounted on the brown bumper cover, underneath the black propane cover. Screw/washer screws into U-clip, the washer part securely holds down the propane cover. Cheap but works great.

Thanks but you're right it's not very clear.
