I just bought a Roadtrek Simplicity and am going on my first trip. So, here's how little I know. I'm trying to sign up for a campground and they want to know if I need 20 amps or 50/30 amps. How do I find the answer to this?

30 amp is the standard

Your RV comes with 30 amp plug,
which allows you to run the aircon or any high power appliances.


If you don't need the aircon,
you can request a cheaper 20 amp campsite.
But you might need a 30A to 20A adapter. (so-called dog bone)

With 20 amps, you can run all the low power appliances. eg. lights, TV, radio, furnace fan, etc.

With the 20amp you can run everything just don't try to run everything at the same time. I do this often in friends driveway.

Haven't every tripped a circuit breaker.

Agree. 20 amps is 2400 watts. Any one item will not exceed this. We have camped with a 20 amp plug-in often, and used coffee maker, microwave, griddle, induction cooktop , etc.
