Removing freshwater tank to fix exhaust?

Thanks for letting me join your group. We have a 2013 Mercedes Sprinter Roadtrek CS Adventourous. Our DEF indicator won't recognize that we put DEF in and the Mercedes dealer says we have issues with adblue and co2 sensors, but they won't work on our van until we have someone remove the freshwater tank. Is it normal to have to remove the tank for this service? Also, am having a hard time finding someone who can remove it for us. We are in Lansing Michigan.

I am in So Cal. My local dealer would not perform the service wo the tanks removed. The dealer in Riverside was able to do it without removing the tanks. The dealer in Bend Oregon is awesome as well and knows Roadtreks as well.
