All,
I pulled the trigger and purchased a Houghton AC. I decided on the 2800 9500 BTU unit with heat pump, primarily because it will not require that I move my solar panels as the larger 3400 would. Now I am looking for a write-up on relocating the Dometic control box that was originally posted at https://jibout.com/houghton-quiet-a-c-installation-fix/. That link no longer works and I was hoping someone had downloaded the info contained there and could forward it to me.
Just as good, any ideas on keeping the furnace working after the AC install would be appreciated. I gather that using a dumb thermostat with and off switch to control the furnace would do the trick and obviate the need to retain the control box, which might even be a better solution.

I never did find that lost excellent write-up, but did solve the problem. The new Houghton/RecPro 2800 with heat pump is in and it works great. Looking forward to RVing in the summer now.
In order to retain the ability to use the Dometic LP furnace, I wound up deleting the old Dometic control box from the AC area and using the wiring that was connected to it. I installed a relay that actuates the furnace through the pair of blue wires formerly connected to the control box. The relay is controlled by a 12V signal, switched by a Dometic Furnace heat-only thermostat (9108859546). Since the new system is a heat pump, I will only need the furnace when boondocking and the inconvenience of a manual thermostat to control it is something I can live with.
