I am a returning member.

For a number of years my wife and I have had a 2005 Roadtrek 190 versatile which we’ve taken to Alaska a couple of times and used extensively in the Tucson, Arizona area. We loved that Roadtrek, but at 6’ 2”, I couldn’t quite stretch out in the E-W sleeping arrangement and when answering a late-night “call of nature” and having to climb over my partner, (The “ninja move” she calls it.) so we decided to sell it and buy something with a N-S set up.

Anyway, we recently bought a 2010 Pleasure Way Excel TS which is wide enough to sleep in any orientation. When my wife saw the enclosed toilet/sink/shower, The deal was done.

I’ve only had it a short time and I’m sorting it all out, so I will have, no doubt, a barrage of questions. Your knowledge and patience will be appreciated.

According to RVIA definitions, it is a Class C, if PW was using a cutaway, but it appears that it still has the Ford back door, so they might have chopped off the back of the van and then rebuilt it. I remember lots of discussion in the past about the Roadtrek model that did the same. It was classed a B because it came off the Ford line as a van. (which is the RVIA defining factor. Of course there is no such thing as a B+)

I agree with your wife, PW has always had the best bathrooms!!

RIVA considers it a Blass B. The Excel started life as a complete van. PW then removed all of the van body behind the cabin, retaining only one side passenger door and the 2 rear doors. It's the same process that Roadtrek did with their 210's.

Update: I know this is going to sound pretty crazy, but the Pleasure Way was in such perfect condition that I was kind of afraid to drive it. The interior was really way too plush and although the cabinetry was beautiful, I didn't think it was particularly practical (Glass faces, weak latches and hinges). It's the kind of RV that you drive down the highway to a well-established campsite plug in and enjoy the comfort.

What I was looking for, as above, was a fully functional RV with N-S sleeping arrangements that I could drive on funky, dirt roads and through the brush and not worry about scratching it. I was lucky enough to find just that kind of RV and at 1998 Leisure Travel wide body in very good condition. It was owned by an airplane mechanic who kept a record of all the things he did and that was a lot. Also, it had very few miles on it for an RV of that age (98,000) For a fraction of what I paid for the Pleasure Way.

All of this is not without cost however. There are a number of little doodads that aren't working properly and the generator has started acting up. it starts and runs fine, but when I let up on the starter it quits. This is apparently a common problem and I've gone through the checklist of things to do before actually pulling it apart. Since I live next to a wildlife refuge, I'm thinking that some rodents got in there and chewed up some wiring. Since the problem is sort of intermittent, that is not my first guess.

Well, I am back in Class B, or C (?) forum and we'll be checking in regularly.

Stay tuned.
