Hi All, I've got a 2008 Roadtrek Adventurous 170 which needs an armoire to replace the driver's side passenger seat. Are they available directly from a Roadtrek supplier? If so, who?? I'm considering a DYI dresser from IKEA or elsewhere. Please advise on your solutions to this build. Photos would be terrific.
Thanks -David

The cabinets and furniture was designed and produced by Roadtrek so it would only be available from an owner who wants to sell. The originals are actually poorly constructed (I have that model and have done many repairs to the armoire to keep it in service). I think a better option would be to find a cabinet maker who specializes in RV upgrades to get a quality product. Or, if you can find something from IKEA that can work you can modify it to strengthen it to handle traveling down the road.

Thanks for the info on Roadtrek. Looks like I'll go custom, hopefully within budget.

Roadtrek cabinet

I have a cabinet that sits behind the drivers seat on my 2009 Roadtrek Versatile 210. In cherry wood. As new, took it out to use seat instead. California. Would sell. Also think I have drawing, measurements somewhere if that helps. The angles are important.

Poorly finished?

OK, I guess it's relative, it has to be lighter weight wood ..we have them in our 2012... seems to work fine so far. I have the seats as well... Not super fine furniture, but, it's adequate. When it ceases to function, I'll just put the seats back in...

Custom is nice... how much?? You can really go overboard with upgrades....

Thanks, I am interested. I have a Sprinter, Adventurous Roadtrek. Maybe the "armoire" is the same one as in yours. Please let me know. Thanks -David

80/20 cabinetry

This is a different approach to build RV cabinets, aluminum framing cladded with either wood or plastic panels. Assembling precut 80/20 extrusions is simple, like a Lego.

Small cabinets could be easily done with 1” profiles and larger ones with 1.5”. Strong frame eliminates a need for strong panels, I used ¼” with purpose so it looks good and contains a cargo.

Cabinets can be made fully covered with color matching wood and they would look just like Roadtrek’s cabinetry.

See my pictures - https://goo.gl/photos/AZnG63iwMr9u6zLw8
See this fellow also using 8020 - https://ourkaravan.com/vanbuild/

As an example:
- A 2’ x 3’ x 6’ cabinet built from 80/20 extrusions.
- Frame from 1” 1010-S profile, $121.7 + about 10-20% in hardware, 22.4 lbs.
- Frame from 1.5” 1515-ULS profile, $206.3 plus hardware, 41.8 lbs.
- ¼” Plywood to cover all sides 2.25 x 4’ x 8’ sheets at 51 lbs.

80/20 is gaining traction in DIY community, easy to work with, very strong and modifiable. This fellow is selling his converted van with 80/20. https://sprinter-source.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75461
