Interesting product, I like integrated Victron system but am not sure about the centralized control. Troubleshooting could require a highly trained technician which could be a problem if you are in the middle of nowhere. I remember when Advanced RV needed to fly a technician to get Davy’s van fixed.

That’s a fair concern and something we’ve thought a lot about. One of the core design principles of ROAMiQ is avoiding single points of failure. The control layer sits on top of the components, it doesn’t replace the normal operation of them.

For example, most devices still have their native controls or physical switches available. ROAMiQ is essentially adding a centralized interface, automation, and remote access layer. It's not removing the ability to run the equipment directly.

So if the ROAMiQ display or controller were ever offline for any reason, your rig would still function just like it normally would without ROAMiQ.
 
Do you have a built-in troubleshooting software which is accessible by a user in a plain readable format? There must be a happy midpoint between system complexity vs ease of troubleshooting.

Too often I have seen van conversion with plumbing, heating, cooling, electrical systems complexities way above RV mechanics pay grade, decipherable only by the original builder if memory still holds.

I appreciate your shell design approach; it is likely good enough for independent switches but not likely for folks without extra gauges for individual subsystems so troubleshooting will require your main system. If this system goes down troubleshooting will by difficult.

Great points. Our goal isn't to hide everything behind a black box. It's actually the opposite. Since, as mentioned, ROAMiQ sits on top of components as a smart layer, the idea is to strike the balance you're suggesting. A smart layer while keeping the underlying systems accessible and serviceable without needing a specialist to troubleshoot. Again, our aim is not to replace. Redundancies are always important regardless of which systems or components we're talking about.

To take it a step further, upcoming updates will introduce smart troubleshooting capabilities designed to make diagnosing issues much simpler for users. The system will continuously monitor connected components and notify the user when it detects a potential issue, often times, before the user even notices anything themselves.

When an issue is detected, the system will guide the user through step by step troubleshooting. If the issue isn't resolved through those standard steps, ROAMiQ will automatically escalate it to human support by sending all diagnostic data, status, and troubleshooting steps already taken, which will allow support teams to understand the situation fully before initial contact with the user. This alone will save considerable time, effort and frustration for both the user and the support rep. We plan to have these capabilities, at least for the most essential integrations, within the coming weeks.

Yes, ROAMiQ is built on Home Assistant at its core. We chose that foundation intentionally because it’s flexible, well supported, and allows users to expand the system over time if they want.

And yes, the ROAMiQ hub and display will also be available on their own without the Victron equipment. The Victron STACK systems are just one example of a fully integrated package we offer, but the platform itself is designed to work with many different components depending on how a builder or owner wants to configure their system.

We’ll be releasing a video soon that shows how simple our setup wizard makes pairing ROAMiQ with an existing Victron system.
