RT bumper covers vs regular bumpers

I think most Express Van RT 190/210's came with what are described as bumper covers in the 2008 brochure. They do give them a more "finished" look. I've also noticed they are subject to cracking when hitting hard objects.

This is my question. Is the regular van bumper under the bumper cover, or would a regular bumper have to be purchased in order to replace the bumper cover?

The factory bumpers are underneath and several members here have removed the covers, so because of damage and some like the bumper looks better.

Thanks for the quick reply. In the future, should I see one with a busted bumper cover, I'll look at it with the eye of it coming from the factory without the cover.

Can't say I recall seeing a 210 without the rear cover before. The uncovered ends of the ground effects are certainly not attractive.

There are also two styles of ground effects on 190s as they changed somewhere around 2010, I think, when the started putting two batteries in front of the passenger side wheel instead of having one of them behind the wheel. I assume they each would look different also.

Easy way is to get a Ranger that doesn't have the skirting or covers on it.

Booster is referring to the RT190 front and rear covers. But on the 210, only the front cover can be removed without appearance issue. The 210 rear cover is much different and the vehicle does not look right without it. This posting shows a 210 with both front and rear covers removed (and the rest of the body in rough shape also).

Yes, the 210 in the ad is a little rough.

Now that you mention it, I saw how bad the rear on a 210 can be. A few years ago I looked at a 210 and it had a very ugly area on the right rear. The owner said it had fallen off that morning.

Just looking at the brochure for 2008 RT's, I don't mind the non covered look at all.

If you see it from the rear, which they don't show without covers, you find a squareish notch in each rear corner between the bumper and the side skirting.

If you look at page 19 or the 2008 borchure, you can see how the bumper cover sticks out to match the skirting which stands proud to the side of the van. Very similar to the 210 pic peteco posted, but with the open end of the skirting plugged.

Some don't mind the look and some do.
