I have a new Onan QG2800i mounted under my 2005 Roadtrek 210. It sits a little lower than the Kv 2800 and am thinking about mounting a 1/4" rubber sheet to the front side between the genny and differential to protect the paint from road grime and cover the remote wiring. Good or bad idea?

JMO, but I wouldn't bother. I also have the new QG2800i The old one was wired the same and lasted 17 years, and was still in great shape. It does sit a little lower, but I've never bottomed out, because I drive like and old man, because I am an old man. LOL

I have a 1999 Roadtrek 190 Popular, on which I replaced the generator with the 2800i 3 years ago. I don't go off-road in places where I could bottom out, and I haven't done anything special to protect the paint. I've used it several times this year to run the A/C for my dogs. I can't really answer your question though.
