Snow

We finally got snow here in Wi. So what to do? Guess it's a good day to plan spring/summer/fall trips. Get out the atlas grab a coke and let the planning begin.

Just some flurries in Minneapolis. Didn't even stick. Most unusual winter I've ever experienced in Minnesota. We haven't even had a 0F day yet.

We're supposed to get 4 to 6 inches of snow tonight. Yes, good time to plan trips.

Ground is pretty bare now. Seems like an unusual winter here in the Maritimes as well - at least near me. Farmers on Prince Edward Island picked cabbages from the fields last week (January). Prior to that, the latest they had harvested had been early December one year.

We had a couple of inches here in Denver yesterday, along with really cold temps - it was in the single digits last night, not fun in a van. We also had about the same last Saturday night into Sunday, also with cold temps but warmer than last night (and I was inside in a motel room, easier to take). I used to like snow a lot; not anymore.

Maryland weather has also been odd. 4 days ago we had temps hitting 60 todays high is 34 and will be 18 tonight. Having no heat in my house today/ tonight are going to be a bit hard. I did purchase a filter that allows me to use my electric clothes dryer to heat the house and the fur squad are in full snuggle mode so I'll hopefully be able to hang in there until next week when I'll likely be moving into my van full-time.

I have one of those walk behind snow-blowers that I use to clear my driveway.
Ad Flyers, a free newspaper and real estate guide are all bundle up in a blue bag and delivered by someone in a vehicle once per week. They toss the bag into the driveway or lawn etc.

You see where this is going........................ roblem:

The bag was buried by the snowfall we had on Thursday........

What a mess - shredded newspaper stuff just exploded out of the snow-blower chute!

We've just had our first "shovelable" snow overnight - perhaps 6 cm and -10 celcius. Most unusual for Edmonton. But the Class B didn't notice at all. She is in tucked away in the warm garage, plugged into shore power because grandma and granddaughter had an overnighter there at New Year's. A great hide-away for them.

You'll have to shovel really fast to get the same effect as markopolo by running over your newspaper.

We still have no snow coverage in the Twin Cities and we are about to break a record for the latest date in the winter that the temperature does not go below 0 degrees Fahrenheit.

I think we've had snow that accumulated twice this season (2011-2012). Both times, it was gone within 48 hours.
Not sure about breaking records, but I'm liking it, so far. :clap:

OK we finally got it. Maybe 8 inches on the ground by tomorrow morning.

It was almost welcomed. As one lady said today - better to get it now as we don't want it in May!

We got the biggest snow fall to date of our season 2 days ago. About 3-4 inches. Give or take.
It was gone yesterday afternoon, when we got up to 10C, and it's still above freezing at the time of
this post.
This has been (so far) THE mildest snow season that I can remember in some time.

No snow on the ground in Minneapolis/St. Paul. I wonder when they are going to call it our most snowless winter. We've had a generously reported 14" so far with no one snow over 2". The previous winter it snowed mid November and there was snowshoeable, snowmobileable and skiable snow on the ground continuously until late March. This year the cross-country designated trails in our parks haven't been used. They had to make artificial snow on a 3.5K loop track in Minneapolis for its annual City of Lakes Loppet.

Well, I see that my old hometown of Denver is getting some of the white stuff. How thoughtful of it to wait until after I left . Here in southeastern PA we've had only a little rain but no snow since I arrived last weekend. However, we do have this:

I hope that doesn't depress those of you still dealing with winter; I'm sure it's not over yet here. I just thought I'd offer it as a sign of better things to come.

I was glad to read you're safe and warm. I'm set up at one of the large flea markets north of Cincinnati and on my way south. At least I wasn't the only wacko here last night! I think Nashville or Memphis will be far enough south for this year.

Oh, its 41.6 degrees here according to my handy dandy outdoor electronic thermometer!

In South West U.S.A. they call it "La Nina".

Or was it "El Nino"? I always get the two confused.

Fleamarketeer, I'm looking for flea markets here, both for stuff I'm clearing out of this house (which is the house I grew up in) and for my crafts. I haven't found any yet but even if I do I'm not sure it'll be warm enough to spend that much time outside for at least a couple more months. And the humidity here makes the outside temp seem colder than it would in, say, Denver. I'm still getting used to it.

Currently it's close to 40 here and the forecast for the week is about the same. I think everyone is probably grateful for that; they had a *lot* of snow last winter.
