Tires softest ride

Hi,
I own a 1997 Roadtrek Dodge 190 Popular and I want to know which are the smoothest riding tire is out there. I have currently Michelins LTX M/S2 and the way streets are in California every time I hit a pothole my dentures rattle. I currently have Bilstein shocks all around.
When I owned my 1970 Dodge Challenger I never had good luck with Goodyear or Firestone tires until I bought BF Goodrich tires they were the best but?

I have the michelin agilis on my chev. 25000 miles.

The first 300 miles or so they were slappy on expansion joints, then that eased and I no longer notice it.


some of the Socal roads and highways have grooves, expansion joints and rough surfaces.
I think you'll always be aware of that in a 8000# van

We recently switched from the aged out MS2 tires to Agilis on our 07 C190P Roadtrek and the ride quality is similar between them IMO.


The problem comes with tires in these heavy vans is that going with soft riding tires usually comes with reduced stability and control, plus maybe more chances of tire failure.


You have a Dodge chassis and those are known to be more prone to handling issues than the Chevies so it would pay to be careful in tire selection so the van doesn't get harder to control in the wind and grooved roads.

Thanks for you reply.
So your rear tires have tire pressure off 80#?
My rear driver side of my 1997 Roadtrek 190 Popular Dodge B3500 had a blowout and damaged my gas line and apart behind the tire.
Do you by any chance know where I can order this part?
I attached a picture I hope you can see it.

The tires your running are probably E rated, I would get the van weight on each axle then look on tire manufactures web site for proper tire pressure. I find Bilstien shocks to ride on the firm side, I changed my shocks to Koni on my Ford E-350 and found it to be a big improvement on ride quality.

From tires:

1 .maxload or load-index
2. Kind of tire to determine the referencepressure
Looadrange or better pressure behind AT
3. Less important, speedcode.

From motorhome
Single or duall axle behind and if tag-axle.
GAWR's of the axles.
GVWR
Better weighed fully loaded axle- weights
Even better axle-end weights.

If you post about shocks you will get Bilstein, Bilstein, Bilstein! If you google do Bilstlen give a harsh ride" you will find many posts complaining about them. Have come across 2 people so far that disliked them so much they removed them.

Had an older 19-footer on a Dodge platform. The ride was like Fred Flintstone's car - stone tires! Maybe new shocks might have helped - don't know. Was glad to get rid of it.

Now have a Ford and the difference in ride and handling is like night and day. Smooth and quiet.
