winnebago era - fans stopped working

Hi everyone,

I have a 2012 Winnebago ERA 170X. All of a sudden the ceiling fan and toilet fan stopped working. Therefore, I assumed that it was a fuse. However, I could not find the fuse box at all. The fuse in the ceiling fan is still good and the toilet fan does not have any fuse at all. Does anyone know what is going on? Thank you in advance.

Check your ground fault circuit at the 110v plug. It could be tripped therefore shutting off electric current to the fans.

I tried that but it did not work. But I found it was tripped. Maybe the fuse is blown out when it is tripped?

Did the circuit work after reset? Sometimes it will not reset and then the ground fault is bad and needs to be replaced.
 
Are those fans 110v AC? Most RV fans and ventilation that I have heard of is run on 12v DC.

Thanks, that is what I thought. All the chatter about GFCI being tripped was confusing me, and probably others, as the GFCI is 110v AC and normally would not have anything to do with the 12v circuits so couldn't be the cause of the fans not working.
 
Probably you are right, Booster. The fact that baffles me is that the ceiling fan and bathroom fan stopped working at the same time and there is no fuse in the fuse box. Unless it is a very unlikely coincidence, it can be a problem with the fan itself.

BY the way, I found fans are not connected to the fuse. THey have their own fuse.

If they had their own fuse or breaker, as would be common, they would go off together. Did you find that fuse blown? Did you remove and put it back in after testing good? It is also not unusual for one fuse of smaller size to be inline with a larger fuse.
 
I found a fuse in the ceiling fan and it was good. However, I was not able to find one for the bathroom fan.

Not having a schematic so kinda shot gunning. It is quite likely that those fans do not have there own circuit but are daisy chained off of another circuit, likely lighting(?), but who knows. Has everything else that is 12 volt been checked to see iff'n it works?

As an aside, I've heard Winnebago is excellent at having wiring diagrams that they will share with you. Getting that could eliminate a lot of guess work.

On TDY at Big Spring park near Vanburen, MO.

Yep, on the lighting circuit is very common. There has to be a 12v fuse panel someplace, so you may want to ask about that here or from Winnebago. Many times those panels are behind a cover in one of the rear sofa bolsters.
 
I found the fuse box on side wall of the box next to propane heater. (The wooden box that is under the seat. It has the labeled fuse. However, there is no fuse for the fan.

It may not be labelled for the fan, as it might be ceiling lighting or some other callout. You need to check them all.
 
There can't be that many fuses. Pull each one and visually inspect it or better yet, test it with a meter.
