Here's some information for you...my 2010 Subaru Outback Limited with the 2.5 FOUR...has a timing belt.. it's maintenance interval is 9 years or 105,000 miles....

Hmm...au contraire.....I don't disagree with this at all.....

I've done that many times.... usually around 90 percent of the miles.....WHY?

Sometimes for convenience, other times it's because I strongly believe that oil changes should be done once per year...

I'm in my late 60s.... remember the muscle cars of the 60s and 70s......gas guzzling machines....you didn't hear about a lot of timing chain failures...

There's a GREAT DEBATE about timing chains...

Without proper and clean lubrication... timing chain failure is disastrous.... timing chains are supposed to last the life of the vehicle.....

At least with a timing belt...it's a scheduled...

Mercedes Benz just arbitrarily increased the interval to 15k then 20k to sell vehicles to people who wanted less maintenance on the Sprinter. In my view.

There's 13.2 quarts of oil in this engine......I paid $7 per quart.... that's a pretty good deal...but, that's still $92.40 just for the oil plus another $15 for the filter..,..My shop only charged...
