I think coastal cities where fog comes in from the sea is the most corrosive. Inland, I can avoid road salt by not driving. You can't avoid sea salt laden fog.

What about other internal combustion engines such as lawn mowers that are seasonal use, Honda generators, or that gem of a classic car forgotten in a barn. They don't suggest you "exercise" them...
